Inverness
Inverness is a small city on the River Ness. It is the administrative centre of the Scottish Highlands. We explored on foot covering 9kms stopping at many of the outdoor clothing stores servicing the many hikers and cyclists who visit the highlands. In the Victoria Market there was a knitted castle on display, standing about 2 foot high.
There are many sandstone buildings dating from the 1800s. There is a castle, a bouncy pedestrian suspension bridge, and a large undercover shopping centre with good parking at a reasonable rate. Hotel prices are ridiculously high in this whole area. Places can be booked out months in advance.
