Llanberis
We are staying at Llanberis to take the train up Mount Snowdon tomorrow. It is an attractive little town with a lake and surrounded by mountains (low mountains). Mount Snowdon is the tallest peak in Wales and taller than any peak in England (Welsh vs English rivallry), but it is only 1085 metres high compared to Mount Kosciuszko which is 2228 metres, or Mount Everest at 8848 metres. I don't think we will need to worry about altitude sickness.
The fence in the last picture has a new top made from chunks of slate. The gouge in the mountain was made by the slate miners. When I had to replace a single slate step it cost a fortune in Sydney - over here slate is used everywhere. Even new houses are often built with slate roofs.
