Blackall

This is the site of the Black Stump which surveyors used in 1888 to gain latitude and longitude observations to more accurately map Queensland towns. Everywhere to the west was Beyond the Black Stump.

The original stump has been replaced by a petrified log thought to have been hoop pine dating back more than a million years.
